Hyderabad: Falling in line with several reports that favoured Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the just concluded Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, senior TDP leaders are confident of retaining power for the second term in the residual Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation in June 2014.
Senior leaders and TDP cadres are confident of winning 110-140 Assembly and 18 Lok Sabha seats in AP. TDP senior leader Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdhary has predicted that TDP will bag 135 Assembly and 18 Lok Sabha seats.
“The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government had intervened in the election process extensively like no previous central government did. With orders from the Centre, the Election Commission (EC) has done what all it can to sabotage the winning chances of TDP and create hurdles in the electoral process. On the other hand, YSRCP had resorted to undemocratic practices to frighten the people. Despite all these misutilising the power and atrocities, Andhraites whole-heartedly supported the TDP party. Women and old-aged voters were also standing in long queues till midnight to cast their votes. This was nothing but supporting the TDP,” maintained Gorantla.
Punters were encouraged by YSRCP to spread false propaganda on social media that TDP losing the elections. Once the elections results are announced on May 23, it’ll be clear who’s going to win.
Meanwhile, the suspense over the election results has gripped the entire Andhra Pradesh. Several people are receiving calls enquiring about who they voted for. Andhraites are fed up with such phone surveys and answering differently with each call. This has further added to the suspense.
