The Telugu Desam Party leaders from the districts are asking their party boss and CM Chandrababu Naidu to take a fresh look at the manner of sanctioning welfare benefits like Pasupu Kumkuma. They wanted the present online services to be cancelled so that the beneficiaries would be asked to apply through the local TDP functionaries. This would help to create an impression among the beneficiaries that the TDP leadership is behind these services.
The TDP leaders have informed Chandrababu that online applications are making the beneficiaries think that they are receiving the benefits based on their poverty level and other eligibility criteria. They are thinking that the TDP as a party has no responsibility for the same. This thinking has caused some losses to the TDP in the April 11 polling. Naidu told the leaders that some such problems would always crop when massive welfare programmes are implemented. As a whole, the TDP has got response.
