PM Modi has asserted that the BJP will win over 300 seats to form the government on its own. But Federal Front Chairman K Chandrasekhar Rao says the BJP may win just 120-130 seats falling far short of the simple majority. Even the Congress will win only 110-120 whereas the regional parties will put up an equally strong show and they will stand to gain an edge over national parties.
KCR has said that the BJP will not win more than 10 seats in all the southern states put together. Mamata Banerjee has already said that the BJP will draw a blank in the twin Telugu states. Obviously, KCR is indicating that there are ample chances for the regional leaders like himself to play a bigger role in deciding the next government at the Centre. By providing regional sentiment, KCR wants to bring greater pressure on the two national parties to agree his terms at the time of government formation. KCR’s fence-sitting policy goes contrary to Chandrababu Naidu who has taken a strong anti-Modi stance.
