Only one more day is left for the demolition of Rs. 11-crore Praja Vedika government hall as per the dictates of Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy. Different views are emerging on the issue. YCP sympathisers are still viewing this as a triumph of their egos rather than a well-thought-out decision. Like their leader, they are looking at Praja Vedika as a symbol of TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu’s regime. So, such a reminder of TDP glory should come crumbling down.
Analysts say that there is nobody who can confront and change this attitude of the ruling party. The brute majority that YCP has got is being given as the main reason for these adamant and arrogant decisions. Minister Perni Nani is saying that Praja Vedika demolition will cost just Rs. 1 crore but what about Rs. 11 crore public funds used for constructing it. He seems little bothered about this.
TDP MP Kesineni Nani has challenged the government to demolish other private illegal structures beside Krishna river Karakatta near Undavalli before bringing down Praja Vedika. But the government is not at all listening to such arguments and debates. Undoubtedly, if it happens really, demolition of Praja Vedika will be changing the tone and tenor of Andhra politics. It will go down as a permanent reminder of Jagan as an adamant administrator while TDP sympathisers in Capital city districts will grow more bitter.
