Tollywood director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has lashed out strongly at Bollywood critics for rating his debut film Kabir Singh, an official remake of Arjun Reddy, very low and making derogatory comments on his directional skills. In an interview with film companion, Sandeep Reddy came down heavily on critics and called them parasites who are a threat to film industry. He defended his writing skills and said it is not love if there is no liberty of slapping each other.
Reacting on 2 star rating given by noted critic Rajeev Masand, whom he called a fat guy, Sandeep said audience gave 200 Crores at box office. He added that when critics glorified the unsavoury journey of Sanjay Dutt in his biopic Sanju and gave 3.5 rating why are they having a problem with Kabir Singh which is honest storytelling. He also clarified that he will continue making films in his own way not giving much heed to critics.
Sandeep said the original version also received flak from critics and some section of audience, but Kabir Singh received four times the same. These harsh statements from Sandeep are likely to raise further discussion in Bollywood film circles.
