The organisers of Aviation Summit have decided to postpone indefinitely their plans to hold the event in Vijayawada this year. As per their previous plan, the Summit is to be held in August. The organisers have taken stock of the situation that arose after the YCP government has taken charge in the state. The new government has cancelled the Viability Gap Funding agreement with Singapore. This has cut off the only International flight running from Vijayawada International Airport. In such a situation, the Summit organisers feel that they will not be able to project AP in front of global companies that take part.
There are reports that the YCP government is interested in having VGF agreements with Abu Dhabi, etc other than Singapore. But it’s not clear as to when this will materialize and operationalize the new international flight services. If there’s any further delay, it’s likely that there will be no Aviation Summit in AP Capital this year.
