Ramnath Kovind, President of India, today appointed new Governor to the state of AP and he will replace ESL Narasimhan, who has been the governor of AP since almost 10 years. Presindent appointed senior BJP leader Biswabhusan Harichandan as Governor of AP. His background is as below.
Biswabhusan Harichandan is very senior leader in BJP. He began his political career as a member of Bharatiya Jana Sangha in 1971. He became Bharatiya Jana Sangha National Executive Member and its State General Secretary. He served in these positions till the formation of Janata Party in 1977. Then he joined BJP and was BJP state President during 1980 to 1988. In 1988, he joined Janata Party again and became its Vice-President for the State of Odisha. Later he again joined BJP in 1996. He was elected as MLA for 5 times from the constituencies of Chilika and Bhubaneswar. He also served as law minister.
He is also an author and wrote books – “Maru Bataas” “Rana Pratap” “Sesha Jhalak ” “Asta Sikha” “Manasi”. He has very vast political experience and has good knowledge of law and constitution. He is 84 years old now.
