Nearly 4 lakh Government employees in Andhra were in a mood of panic following delay in getting salaries. Rumours spread fast that lack of funds and financial difficulties led to the delay. This is the first time that the employees could not get salaries on the scheduled day in recent years. The employees’ associations also expressed concern over the situation and began making enquiries for the actual reason.
The panic situation was created also because of the already suspicious atmosphere in which doubts were raised over the mismanagement of state finances. The Jagan Reddy government is giving top most priority to the cash transfer and loan waiver programmes which has reportedly caused funds shortage.
The prevailing doubts have forced Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy to issue a statement dismissing any delay in payment of salaries. He said that the state government had submitted salaries of employees but some technical issues in the Centre’s e-Kubher programme led to the delay. Buggana also dismissed rumours that there was shortage of funds in AP. He also promised to the employees that steps would be taken in future to avoid such problems.
