Announcing the drought hit mandals in the state, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao urged the centre the release of Rs 1000 crore immediately as the advance to m the start the relief works.
As the model code of poll conduct was withdrawn, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao cleared the file related to the drought situation in the state Tuesday.
“We are sending the preliminary report to the central government seeking immediate financial assistance. The detailed report will be submitted after the assessment of the crop loss,” he said. The CM said agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy would visit New Delhi to discuss the severity of the situation in the state and to expedite the release of drought relief.
The CM, earlier in the day, held a review meeting on drought situation in the state with officials and ministers concerned, He said that the rainfall was adequate in Khammam and Adilabad districts during the Kharif season. Drought was partial in Karimnagar, Nalgonda and Warangal districts, he said. The state government, while sending the report to the Centre, wanted the Union government to send central team immediately to study the situation and assess the crop loss without delay.
