Every hero has a PR team that primarily operates active during the release of their hero film. Apart from planning aggressive promotions before and after the release of the films , some teams even try to exaggerate the collections just to give additional push to the films. Apart from above strategies, the PR team of Mahesh Babu adopts a different one lately. Every time national media is all agog about Tollywood about other big ticket films, this PR team comes up with planted articles just to turn the attention of audience towards Mahesh Babu.
Previously, during the launch of SS Rajamouli’s RRR, a news article surfaced in English news papers and various film web portals regarding Mahesh Babu’s collaboration with the star director. The article claimed that Rajamouli and Mahesh will team up as soon as RRR is completed. There is no authenticity about this news and neither did any official announcement came from reliable sources. Many believed this as a baseless article just to grab the attention because Rajamouli never finalizes his future projects while working on current film. This article was written by a noted film columnist Shubash K Jha.
Once again when the whole media across the country is going gaga over Tollywood’s latest outing ‘ Saaho’ which is having great openings at box office, another similar planted news article appeared in various web portals written by the same columnist. Once again it is about SS Rajamouli’s project with Mahesh Babu. The article reports that Rajamouli’s is planning his dream project Mahabharatha with Mahesh in a pivotal role. It further stated that Mahesh will make his debut in Bollywood with this project. In other outlets as well strategic articles promoting Babu appear.
This is an interesting strategy to put Mahesh Babu in limelight when the entire national media is praising other Tollywood heroes. One can clearly understand the intention behind these type of articles is to grab the attention of audience. Right now Mahesh Babu is the busiest actor in Tollywood with 4 films lined up for the next three years. Also, Rajamouli hasn’t revealed about his plans to direct the dream project. Nothing wrong about promotional articles , but baseless ones are just to draw the attention towards the actor.
