YSR Congress has called upon the TDP MPs in parliament for a joint fight for getting special status for Andhra Pradesh. The party asked the TDPP to join chorus with YSRC when the Party raises the issues in the ensuing Winter Session. The opposition party wondered as to why the TDP Parliamentary Party, which met yesterday, failed to discuss the special status and other vital issues of the state.
‘There had been no any specific direction for the MPs from the leadership. Nor was there any special agenda prepared for TDPP meeting while our party has resolved to raise the special status issue as the main agenda for winter session. We demand that the TDP should support us when the issues of the state are raised by us in the Parliament, ‘party senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana said on Wednesday.
“Our Party has decided to raise the issue of special status besides, increasing the MSP to farmers and the procurement policy in favour of the farmers besides adequate aid to farmers who were hit by floods and severe drought as well,” he said
TDP on the other hand seems not to have discussed the issues of state interest as it has many skeletons in the cupboard as irregularities in many projects have come out in the open with TDP minister and an MP trading charges on funds to irrigation projects.
Pattiseema project was completed in a hurry and is ridden with corruption charges while the Polavaram project did not move an inch due to the apathy of the State government.
The TDP Parliamentarians seem to be content with special package but this should not be what was already promised in the Act during the division of the State. Any thing over and above what was assured in the Act is welcome.
But special status is a must for development of the state and we will raise the issue and TDP should support us in the Parliament,’ he said.
