Under pressure from the AP government, the cable operators stopped ABN Channel and TV 5 news programmes to their customers all over the state. This is done reportedly after CM Jaganmohan Reddy ordered ‘these channels should not be seen anywhere in the state’. Immediately, YCP Ministers and top officials held a meeting with Multi System Operators (MSOs) when they ordered for stopping ABN. This is obviously the immediate wish of AP CM who is very angry after the government’s failure over TDP Chalo Atmakur.
The MSOs and cable operators tried to tell the government that the TRAI regulations will not allow stopping of free channels like ABN. In these days of information explosion, the Consumer is the King which is amply made clear by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. However, the Ministers forcibly made the operators to implement the unofficial ban.
The government is also very angry with the TV 5 news programmes. The Telangana government has resorted to such tactics in the beginning. Several channels are already being refused entry into the Assembly to cover the sessions.
