AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy ordered stopped of all boating services in the Godavari and Krishna rivers following the death of 12 tourists in Devipatnam boat tragedy. He held an aerial survey of the accident spot. Home Minister Sucharita, Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar Yadav and others accompanied him. Later, he visited the accident spot where he enquired about the reasons for the capsize. The officials gave different versions about the reasons.
One version was sudden panic on the part of tourists led to the mishap. All of them ran to one side of the boat just before the capsize. The reason for this panic was not known.
Jagan later called on the injured tourists who are receiving treatment at the Rajahmundry hospital. He asked them whether they are being given good treatment or not. He ordered the officials to take all the necessary steps for the full recovery of patients. Search operations are still going on for the still missing 30 tourists. Jagan is holding a special meeting with the tourism and irrigation officials to discuss preventive steps to be taken on a permanent basis.
