After the massive success of Baahubali franchise, several Telugu filmmakers have been exploring across the key markets like North India, Tamil and Kerala. Megastar Chiranjeevi’s prestigious film Syeraa released in a decent number of screens in North India along with Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Leaving everyone in shock, the film remained low from day one and could not pick up over the season. It may be a shock but the fact is that Syeraa even could not recover the digital charges spent in many territories.
Megastar Chiranjeevi and his team did not focus much on the promotions which made the film fall flat. Same is the case in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The film struggled hard to gain strength. A decent promotional strategy could have fetched good openings across the non-Telugu circles. When one is not in a mood to promote the film, there is no need to release the film in that territory.
Though Prabhas attained pan-Indian status, the actor allotted ample time and toured across the country promoting Saaho which sure helped the film to an extent. Syeraa’s North Indian performance is sure a lesson for Tollywood and a huge embarrassment for the team.
