The AP High Court ordered the government for providing full details of the Rs 10 Cr spent on the ‘Dharma Porata Deeksha’ held by the then Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Why such huge spending on the Deeksha held in Delhi on March 11? The court heard a petition by one VAVS Suryanarayana Raju from East Godavari. He says that huge public funds were misused for the political show of the then ruling Telugu Desam Party.
In face, Naidu made that Deeksha as part of AP government agitation to attract the country’s and national media attention to the Centre’s indifference to AP reorganization promises. The Ministers, MLAs, people’s representatives and different sections went to to Delhi to take part in the Chandrababu protest. At that time, Naidu’s argument was that the Modi government was not giving Special Status to AP though he made countless representations to PM.
In fact, the BJP supported and demanded Special Status for 10 years to AP during separate statehood debate in the Parliament. But later, PM Modi totally ignored the promise. Against that backdrop, Naidu in his CM capacity began an official agitation by AP government to demand fulfillment of promises by the Centre.
