AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is giving shock treatment to even the media in his typically inimitable Kadapa faction style. He appointed Sakshi employee Devulapalli Amar as AP government national media advisor to get good coverage for his government programmes in the national press. Amar innocently convinced the Press Council of India to hold the National Press Day celebrations in Vijayawada on November 16 in the hope of getting goodwill for Jagan Circar.
Unfortunately for the Press Council and Amar, Jagan’s media gag order came up in the form of GO 2430. Due to serious nature of it, the Council issued notices to the AP government to clarify on the intentions behind the GO. It told Jagan Regime that GO 2430 will not allow journalists to write stories without fear in the state. Apparently angry over this, CM Jagan cancelled the National Press Day celebrations in Vijayawada to give a rude shock to the Council. Now the Press Council has to tell delegates from India and abroad to reschedule their visit. It shifted the venue to Delhi and invited Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu who readily confirmed his participation.
Undoubtedly, YCP leaders are seeing Amar as a failure because of continuing negative stories in the national media against AP Government. The Press Council incident gave much more embarrassment to both Amar and Press Council.
