The ruling YCP is strongly opposed to the shifting of the Visakhapatnam railway division to Vijayawada. But, the Modi government at the Centre is going ahead with this decision. The BJP AP leaders are also not all bothered about this development. Obvious reason is the Vizag voters are totally ignoring the BJP in the elections.
The Jaganmohan Reddy government is alarmed at the latest development. Its MP Vijayasai Reddy raised the issue in Rajya Sabha when he told the BJP government not to play with the sentiments of the AP people. Vijayasai asserted that the Vizag division is one of the top revenue earning divisions in the entire country. The local people are sentimentally attached to it. Vijayasai cautioned the Centre against hurting the feelings of the AP people in this respect.
Analysts say that Jagan Reddy Circar is more worried about the wrong message that the division shifting would send to the people now. While AP Government is shifting capital out of Vijayawada region, the Centre is adding more strength to the place. Time will tell what exactly is the political reason behind the Centre’s move.
