Left Parties do not go to the extent of conduction sting operation to nail their political rivals. But it happened in Telangana, though at the lowest level. Communist Party of India (CPI) recorded a conversation of TRS MLA Madan Lal (Wyra) with the husband of a woman MPTC member belonging to the party. The MLA , as alleged by the CPI, had put pressure on the woman MPTC member Nagalakshmi’s husband Satyanarayana to switch his wife to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS).
Keeping in view the Legislative Council election for the local bodies’ constituencies TRS is enlisting the support of adequate number of people’s representatives in local bodies. TRS is in dire need of numbers to send more members to the Council. It is widely alleged that it is wooing the MPTC and ZPTC members of opposition parties and independents with money. A delegation of CPI called on district collector DS Lokesh Kumar seeking action against ruling party MLA Madan Lal for the alleged coercion on Konijerla-II MPTC member Nagalakshmi to influence her to join TRS and see that she voted for the TRS MLC the ensuing Legislative Council elections.
CPI district secretary B Hemantha Rao, who led the delegation , submitted an audio CD to the collector, which contained the conversation between the MLA and Satyanarayana. They said they had recorded the conversation in which the MLA used coercive language. “The ruling party leaders are attempting to woo the MPTCs of the CPI and other opposition parties with cash offers. This is in violation of the model code of conduct which is enforced for the legislative council elections,” they alleged.
Having anticipated an attempt by the TRS leaders, they kept ready the equipment to record the conversation between the Vyra MLA and the husband CPI MPTC member. Satyanarahyana also filed a complaint against the Wyra MLA and other TRS leaders involved in operation with the Konijerla police on Tuesday . He alleged that the two TRS leaders warned him of serious consequences if he failed to help his wife join TRS.
