YSR Congress has taken serious objection to the Centre’s stand on Krishna water sharing and said TDP government had been mortgaging the state’s interests for its personal and political gains.
‘Centre, filing an affidavit in Supreme Court, said the redistribution of the Krishna waters between Telangaan Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is the responsibility of the two states. This clearly has insulated the upper riparian rights states of Maharshtra and Karnataka and goes against the interests of Andhra Pradesh which is a tail end state. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has made no efforts to reverse the situation and chose to mortgaging the interest of the State in Delhi,’ Party MLA G Srikanth Reddy said on Wednesday.
Limiting the distribution to the allocated share of 811 TMC between the lower riparian states would affect the irrigation system and the Krishna Water Tribunal needs to reallocate the sharing proportion of all the four states, he said.
‘Chandrababu Naidu has not been raising this issue and has allowed the Centre to take a stand which had gone against the interests of the State. Still Naidu continues to be a coalition partner of NDA and practice politics of compromise,’ he said.
Chandrababu Naidu did the same when HD Deve Gowda was Prime Minister and allowed illegal constructions come up on the Upper Krishna affecting the inflow into AP, he accused.
‘Now event though the Centre has openly informed the apex court that the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana should take care of their redistribution between themselves, the Chief Minister is not able to protest. It shows his policies of compromise,’ he said and recalled that Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had earlier written a letter to the Prime Minister about the injustice being meted out to Andhra Pradesh in the sharing of Krishna River waters.
