After months of struggle due to the coronavirus pandemic, Tollywood reopened again. Several theatres are shut and for some of the days, the theatres are asked to operate with 50 percent occupancy. The AP government imposed restrictions to slash the ticket prices and some of the theatres are shut, seized due to various reasons. Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhnada was the first biggie that was released after the second wave of coronavirus pandemic. The film opened to packed houses and received a top-class response from A to C centres. This mass entertainer also crossed 1 million USD mark in the USA and turned out to be a huge relief for Telugu cinema.
Then came Allu Arjun’s Pushpa and the film too opened with a bang. The film received a mixed response but the numbers are quite satisfactory. The film also made huge money in its second weekend. Nani’s Shyam Singha Roy released during the Christmas weekend and the film received positive response from the audience. The film had a super strong weekend all over. December witnessed three good films and 2021 is ending up on a grand note for Telugu cinema. 2022 starts with SS Rajamouli’s RRR featuring NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles. The film will be followed by Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam.
