Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu instructed official to take stringent steps to curb adulterated liquor and call money racket. He asked the police not to hesitate to take action against the persons behind these murky activities, howsoever big they were. The chief minister asked all the victims not to pay any money to the offenders.” It is illegal. When in Opposition party, I had asked the people not to repay the exorbitant interest rates to the micro finance companies, which levied as much as 50 per cent rate of interest. Addressing Collectors conference in Vijayawada Monday morning, the CM said the sale of adulterated liquor and call money racket were damaging the image of the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh. “All these activities should be nipped in the bud itself as they have the potential to tarnish the image of our new capital ” he said. He warned the operators of Call Money not to fleece the borrowers for money. Naidu instructed the police to invoke the Nirbhaya Act against the offenders if any woman came with a complaint against call money organizers. ” The punishment of these criminals should become a lesson to all anti-social elements,’ he said. The chief minister said his government would fight against the corruption at levels with iron hand.
” The government will adopt modern technologies to prevent crime and corruption in the state. We won’t tolerate any aberration in the state when the government is struggling to achieve the double digit growth,” Naidu said. He was unhappy that the agriculture sector recorded minus growth this year.
” Even though the growth in the other sector has compensated for the negative growth in agriculture, state can’t afford to have this trend for long in the important sector which is source employment for about 60 per cent of the people. While we are number one in fisheries, but lagging behind in farm sector. It should be corrected,” he said. Unless agriculture was brought on track, the problem of rural employment couldn’t be addressed, he added. He asked the officials to work hard to make Andhra Pradesh number one by 2029 in India and top ranker in world by 2050. Naidu said the administrative capital of Amaravati would be ready by 2018.
