Amaravati: The AP Government has extended the Reservation facilities to “Munnuru Kapu“ caste in the State, which is included in the list of Backward Classes under Group–D with Sl.No.20. The department of Backward Classes Welfare, government of Andhra Pradesh issued a Gazette notification number 858, dated August 23, 2022.

So far, it was restricted to “Telangana Region” in the combined State of Andhra Pradesh. It is now extended to four mandals of East Godavari District including “Chintoor, Kunavaram, V.R.Puram and Yetapaka” and three mandals of West Godavari district including “Kukunoor, Velairpadu and Bhurgampadu”, after their demerger from Telangana State and transfer to the State of Andhra Pradesh as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization (Amendment) Act, 2014. At the same time, the Government of Andhra Pradesh did not increase the percentage of existing reservations.
