Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu claimed that the Congress invited trouble on its own by throwing challenge at former Union Minister Subrahmanian Swamy, during a Parliament session in 2012, to go to court to prove his allegations against the Congress leaders. It was against this backdrop Swamy has filed the National Herald case in the court.
Vijayawada: Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said that Congress leaders invited trouble on their own in the National Herald Case. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the Venkaiah Naidu clarified that the BJP led NDA government at the Centre has nothing to do with the case. It was the Congress leaders who had challenged Subrahmanian Swamy during a Parliament session in 2010, to go to court and prove his allegations. It was against this backdrop that the former union minister Swamy had taken the challenge, and filed the case against the Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and others, in National Herald Case.
But, hiding this fact, the Congress leaders have stalled proceedings of the Parliament, despite knowing well, that neither the Centre, nor the BJP has any role in the case. It was Congress which had invited trouble on its own. However, its making an issue making wild allegations that the BJP is resorting to political vendetta, and creating obstacles to the passage several important bills during the ongoing winter session of the Parliament, he added.
He questioned that the logic behind the Congress stalling the proceedings, asking how the Centre or the Parliament has a role in a case where Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and few others were personally involved and summoned by the court. Accusing the Congress for being responsible because of which nearly 16 bills are waiting for discussion and to get the nod of the Parliament, he said.
Dismissing the allegations of the Congress president and vice-president that the Modi government is resorting to political vendetta, the Union Minister said that the Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been getting accolades from different countries in the world, on the other, the behaviour of the Congress by stalling the Parliament proceedings would ruin the country’s image, he said.
