President Pranab Mukherjee calls upon younger generation of technocrats to shoulder the responsibility in getting acquainted with latest developments in technology to give comparative edge to the country’s defence forces over the nation’s adversaries. He addressed the Convocation Ceremony of 96 Degree Engineering and 24 Technical Entry Scheme students at Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) in Secunderabad on Saturday.
Hyderabad: President Pranab Mukherjee called upon the younger generation of technocrats to adapt the latest developments in the field of technology for use by the defence forces by accelerating the pace of military innovation.
Addressing the Convocation Ceremony of 96 Degree Engineering and 24 Technical Entry Scheme at the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) here on Saturday, he said that the national will look upon them to define and modify the way defence forces operate, by using technological advances to give a comparative edge over the nation’s adversaries. The President said that we live in an era where the pace of technological transition is so fast that “new concepts are introduced, established paradigms are being redefined and research is opening new vistas.” Change driven by path breaking research is both exhilarating and mesmerising. And, the challenge ahead for them is to harness the latest defence technologies and to ensure that the Indian Army benefits from the same.
He called the MCME a truly unique institution that empowers the human resources of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering with highest levels of skills in Technology Management. Appreciating the institution for keeping pace both with the security environment and technology advancements.
Pranab Mukherjee said that the Faculty of Guided Weapon Systems and Associated Technology stands as a testimony to the foresight of the defence forces in aligning technology with their avowed object of defending the nation.
The President while appreciating the students passing in both the courses for taking up a wide range of projects from Biometrics to Solar Power, he noted, that such a move would benefit both the civil society as well as in the military fields. Referring to how the military technologies have benefited to the civil society immensely , and its spin-offs have contributed significantly to the nation building, the President added.
