Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao‘s prestigious Ayutha Chandi Yagam has commenced exactly at 10.55 am at his equally prestigious farmhouse in Erravelli village, Jagadevpur mandal, Medak district in an unprecedented festive atmosphere.
Before commencement of Chandi Yagam, the KCR couple have performed special pujas to village goddesses-Pochamma and Mysamma. KCR wife Shobha and daughter Kavita distributed sarees to the women.
The five-day yagam, which is said to have been planned for universal well-being, is first of its kind vedic ritual in the recent history of India. Neither an individual nor any Dharmik institution performed any yagam on this scale at least in the past 200 years.
Chief Minister Rao and his wife Shobha commenced the Maha Yagam by circumambulating around the sacred fire pits along with the ritviks amid amid chanting of vedic hymns. Governor E S L Narsimhan, chief justice of Hyderabad High Court Dilip Babasaheb Bhosale, Eenadu chief Ramoji Rao and Art of Living guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar attended the Chandi Yagam on the first day.
In the queue are union ministers M Venkaiah Naidu, Bandaru Dattatreya (December 24), Maharashtra Governor, Ch Vidyasagar Rao (Dec 25), Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah (Deceber 26). Arrangements have been made to serve food for 50,000 visitors a day. 300 hundred bio-toilets had been installed at the venue. Sringeri Sankaracharya, Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamy has sent a special benedictory message to chief minister Rao.
The ritual began with Guru Prarthana. Along with Sahasra Chandi recital, Maharudra Punascharana Chaturveda Yagam, Mahasauram, Ukta Devata Prayers have been performed.
