A recent controversy has sparked tension between Tollywood celebrities and Ruling Congress in Telangana. The incident began when Cabinet Minister Konda Surekha made insulting remarks about actor Nagarjuna’s family. Although Surekha later apologized and retracted her statements, and PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud called for an end to the dispute, the situation continues to escalate.
Despite the apology, some Tollywood celebrities are still reacting strongly to the incident. This ongoing response is causing frustration among Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who is reportedly displeased with the film industry’s extreme actions.
The current controversy has brought to light existing political tensions. Congress leaders feel that Tollywood was overly critical of their previous government. Now, the current government is unhappy with Tollywood’s stance on various issues, including disagreements over awards and demands for increased ticket prices.
Many netizens have slammed the the double standards of the MAA association and other celebrities. When Posaini Krishna Murali, a MAA member, directly attacked Pawan Kalyan’s family, including his daughter, not a single celebrity spoke up, and the MAA association failed to take any action against him.
As the situation unfolds, there’s a growing sentiment that the government might take a tougher approach with Tollywood.
Officials are suggesting that the film industry should aim for neutrality and avoid overreacting. The message being conveyed is that Tollywood should maintain a more balanced relationship with the government.
