Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy complained about Telangana Government’s non co-operation for MMTS train services to famed pilgrimage place Yadadri. He said that Centre is going ahead with extending MMTS train services till Yadadri, inspite of no support from State Government.
Kishan Reddy held a review meeting with Telangana MPs and South Central Railway (SCR) officials to take stock of the various development works going on in the region. MPs Suresh Reddy, Kadiyam Kavya, DK Aruna and Raghunandan Rao took part in the meeting.
“Various development works with an outlay of Rs 33,000 Cr are being taken up under South Central Railway region under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. As part of these works, SCR is taking up MMTS train services work to Yadadri,” said G Kishan Reddy.
“Centre is spending about Rs 650 Cr towards Yadadri MMTS works. Telangana Government has to contribute Rs 800 Cr towards this project. But state Government is not cooperating and not releasing funds. Inspite of Telangana Government not paying and going back on the project, Centre is going ahead with Yadadri MMTS works,” said G Kishan Reddy speaking to media after the review meeting.
Right now MMTS train services are operating up to Ghatkesar in the northeastern side of Hyderabad. Popular pilgrimage place Yadadri (Yadagirigutta) is located about 40 kms from Ghatkesar.
South Central Railway is planning to extend the MMTS services upto Yadadri from Ghatkesar. If MMTS train services come into operation, then it will greatly help the devotees and tourists visiting Yadadri from Hyderabad city.
