Multiple hotels in Tirupati and Airlines flight received bomb threats on Thursday, prompting immediate security measures across the temple city. Local police confirmed threats were sent via email to three private hotels near Leela Mahal and another hotel at Ramanujan junction.
The threatening emails mentioned potential attacks in response to Tamil Nadu’s handling of terrorist Jafar Sadiq’s case. The message claimed ISI involvement and threatened attacks on schools in Tamil Nadu and religious sites in nearby Tirupati.
DSP Venkata Narayana led special teams to conduct thorough searches at all targeted locations. Police officials confirmed no explosive materials were found during their inspection, but security measures remain heightened across the city.
In a related development, Star Airlines flight S5-154 at Tirupati Airport also received a bomb threat through social media. The threat came from an X account named “Adamlanja 333,” leading to immediate security protocols at the airport.
This incident comes amid a wave of bomb threats targeting Indian aviation. Several airlines including Indigo, Vistara, and Akasa Air received similar threats, causing a Vistara Delhi-Hyderabad flight to be diverted as a precautionary measure.
Police have registered cases regarding both the hotel and airport threats and launched investigations to track the source of these threats. Local authorities urge citizens to remain vigilant but calm as they handle the situation.
