Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders have strongly criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy over his handling of family property disputes. The controversy centers around legal actions taken against his mother and sister regarding family asset distribution.
Senior TDP Politburo member Varla Ramaiah expressed serious concerns about the safety of Jagan’s sister Sharmila, calling for increased security measures. Party leaders criticized Jagan for taking legal action against his own mother and sister over property matters, suggesting this behavior raises questions about his ability to lead the state.
“Someone who can’t do justice to his own mother and sister cannot do justice to the state,” said Minister Parthasarathy, targeting the YSRCP president’s leadership capabilities. The opposition has particularly focused on what they describe as a deterioration of family values, noting that Indian family systems are respected worldwide.
In the midst of the controversy, Sharmila has claimed that the businesses established by their father YSR are not Jagan’s personal property. The dispute has raised significant questions about the management of family assets and property distribution rights within the YSR family.
TDP MLA Somireddy criticized Jagan’s approach to the family dispute, calling it a reflection of his “cruel mentality.” He pointed out that Vijayamma, Jagan’s mother, reportedly fled due to fears for her safety, according to public perception. The opposition has used this family conflict to question the Chief Minister’s moral standing and administrative capabilities.
The dispute has broader implications for state governance, according to TDP leaders. They claim public assets have depreciated under Jagan’s rule, resulting in significant financial losses to the state. Questions have also been raised about government land lease extensions, particularly regarding Saraswati Power and its delayed project implementation.
Minister Parthasarathy emphasized that Chandrababu Naidu’s vision is attracting investments to the state, asserting that the government aims to create 20 lakh jobs. He accused Jagan’s administration of focusing on mudslinging rather than development.
