Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is getting ready for an all out war with YSRCP as far as the bauxite mining is concerned. The CM is determined to go ahead on to mine the bauxite come what may. Before the finalization of private partners to join hands with AP mineral development corporation, Naidu wants to launch a campaign in support of Bauxite mining and the benefits it is going fetch for the tribal people of Agency area, Visakhapatnam.
According to party sources, Naidu is going to deploy Visakha’s senior politician Konathala Ramakrishna, who is expected to join the party next month two counter the argument of opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy. Jagan, standing among the tribal people of bauxite bearing areas of Chintapally region, took a pledge that he won’t allow the bauxite mineral move an inch from the agency against the will of tribal people.
Naidu, in the game plan to turn the tables on Jagan, wants to expose the deals the YS Rajasekhar Reddy government entered with ANRAK and Jinda South West (JSW) and argue that YSR’s mining was meant to looting the state’s wealth while his ‘eco-friendly’ mining was to help the tribal people prosper along with the rest of the state. Naidu’s wants to make Konathala commander-in- charge of bauxite war with Jaganmohan Reddy. Because, when YS Rajasekhar Reddy was signing the MoU with these companies, Konathala was a minister in YSR cabinet. He was a very close confidante of YSR. And as a minister from Vizag and enjoying the confidence of the chief minister , Konathala was privy to most private discussions on the bauxite. So, Naidu wants Konathala to tell the people what happened then and what is happening now.
Konathala, given his antagonism towards Jaganmohan Reddy , is more than willing to do the job. The former commercial tax minister, not so controversial in politics like many of North Coastal Andhra leaders, is a simple and straight forward man. So, people attach some importance to his utterances. This is exactly what Naidu wants. Naidu knows well that Vizag ministers, Ayyannapatrudu and Ganta, are not taken seriously by the local people because of their business connections. Region’s another minister Atchannaidu falls in the category of ‘ more sound than the stuff’. It is a win win situation for Naidu and Konathala to work together. While Konathal fits the Naidu’s bill, the job would suit Konathala to a tee.
