Indian women U-19 cricket team has won T20I World Cup and one name which became viral with this achievement is Gongadi Trisha. The all-rounder from Telangana was adjudged the Player of the Series, making her an overnight celebrity.
While Trisha Gongadi acquired fame with her U-19 T20I world cup performance, it took more than 14 years of hardwork and planning for the cricketer to come to this stage. She started playing cricket while she was a pre-schooler but love towards game took a serious turn, when she joined St.Johns Cricket Academy in Secunderabad at the age of 7.
The fact that Trisha’s father Ram Reddy was a former hockey player and fitness trainer-turned-entrepreneur played a key role in laying a strong foundation for his career in cricket.
While Trisha Gongadi’s family hailed from Badrachalam, her family shifted to Hyderabad for her cricket training, while she was just 5 years. After Trisha’s entry into St.Johns Cricket Academy, the support of coaches there and Hyderabad Cricket Association, ensured that she rose to the level of playing international cricket.
Gongadi Trisha remained top run scorer in women’s U-19 T20I World Cup with 309 runs in 7 innings at an average of 77. She has also scored a record-making century, the first, in the tourney. What makes her special is, she has also contributed to Indian team as a bowler with 7 wickets. This proves her as a perfect and promising all-rounder.
As Trisha is basking in U-19 T20I world cup victory glory, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy rewarded her Rs 1 Crore. He promised all possible support for the young cricketer in the future.
With Trisha Gongadi proving her credentials emphatically in Women’s U-19 cricket, she is focusing all energies and efforts now to get into Indian Women’s Cricket team.
