In a live session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Minister Nara Lokesh responded to various questions raised by MLAs, focusing on school safety measures and the upcoming Mega DSC (District Selection Committee) recruitment drive. The session took an interesting turn when Lokesh humorously remarked that “TVs might break” if absent MLAs watched his responses on television. This comment came after YSRCP MLAs, who had submitted questions on the Mega DSC and failed to attend the session. Despite their absence, Lokesh assured that he would address their queries.
Lokesh announced that the government is set to release notifications for filling 16,347 teacher posts under the Mega DSC soon. He also highlighted the state’s commitment to improve school infrastructure, stating that ₹3,000 crores would be allocated to construct compound walls for schools across Andhra Pradesh. Under the “Manabadi Mana Bhavishyathu” initiative, the government plans to implement these projects in phases to ensure safety and quality education.
Additionally, Lokesh introduced the “Drugs No Bro” campaign and shared plans to form “Eagle Teams” in every school and college to monitor safety and discipline. He emphasized the importance of parent-teacher meetings and star ratings for schools to enhance educational standards.
Criticizing the previous YSRCP government, Lokesh accused them of neglecting education by implementing the controversial GO 117, which allegedly deprived 12 lakh students of access to education. He assured that the current administration is working on an alternative policy, seeking suggestions from MLAs to address the issue.
In a bid to improve learning environments, Lokesh revealed plans to install CCTV cameras and lighting in schools, particularly in the Rampachodavaram constituency, where 80 schools will receive upgraded facilities. He also called for utilizing CSR funds to further develop educational infrastructure, following Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan’s model.
Later in the day, Lokesh held a meeting with MLAs and ministers at his Undavalli residence to discuss the withdrawal of GO 117 and upcoming educational reforms. Meanwhile, the absence of YSRCP MLAs during the session raised eyebrows, with many questioning their decision to boycott the Assembly despite submitting questions. Speculations suggest that their return to active participation might depend on party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s directives.
