BRS president and former CM K Chandrashekar Rao has picked senior leader and intellectual Dasoju Sravan as BRS MLC candidate for the elections to be held under MLAs quota.
While BRS party announced Dasoju Sravan’s candidature late in the night on Sunday, he will file his nomination on Monday.
Considered an intellectual leader Dasoju Sravan rose to prominence when Chiranjeevi set up Praja Rajyam party. While Praja Rajyam got merged with Congress, Dasoju Sravan joined then Telangana Rashtra Samithi and played a key role in Telangana agitation.
Owing to his intellectual abilities, communication skills and wide ranging contacts Dasoju Sravan emerged as one of the key leaders during Telangana agitation. He even became very close to KCR. But one misstep taken in haste took away years of his hardwork.
When KCR denied ticket during 2014 election, Dasoju Sravan shifted to Congress. As destiny would have it, TRS came to power in Telangana and Congress has to play Opposition role.
However Dasoju Sravan toiled hard in Congress and strengthened his image as leader who raises public problems. But his exit from Congress to BJP gave a blow to his persona. His shifting of loyalties from BJP to BRS further damaged his image.
However KCR gave a new lease of life for Dasoju Sravan by nominating him for MLC in Governor’s quota. But Tamilisai Soundarajan obstructed his entry into Telangana Legislative Council by rejecting his nomination in 2023.
Nevertheless, KCR once again picked Dasoju Sravan to contest in MLC elections to be held under MLAs quota.
