Lyca Productions’ recent offerings ended up as massive debacles. Before the production house had recovered from the disaster of Indian 2, Rajinikanth’ Vettaiyan and Ajith’s Vidaamuyarchi. Both these films ended up as huge debacles and the production house is left in a huge stress. Lyca Productions has L2: Empuraan, the sequel of Lucifer lined up for release. The latest reports say that the film has changed hands to have a comfortable release. The real reason is because of the debts of Lyca Productions.
But the biggest challenge for Lyca is Indian 3. After the debacle of Indian 2, Netflix backed out from the digital deal of Indian 3. There are no takers for the theatrical rights of Indian 3. Even Shankar’s recent directorial Game Changer featuring Ram Charan ended up as a massive dud. This turned out to be an extra stress for Lyca Productions. It is highly impossible to release Indian 3 considering the financial crisis they are in. Shankar is demanding more budget for the post-production work and the reshoots. We have to wait for some more time to see if Lyca Productions can manage the finances and ensure a smooth release for Indian 3.
