The principal opposition party Telangana Congress today accepted the challenge thrown by IT minister K T Ramarao that he would resign from the Cabinet if the party fails to win 100 seats in GHMC elections and the post of Mayor. Ramarao demanded the response from Congress and BJP.
Participating in the poll campaign in LB Nagar assembly on segment Wednesday noon along with AICC in charge of Telangana Digvijay Singh, PCC president N Uttamkumar Reddy said they had accepted the challenge.
” If TRS wins 100 seats we would do whatever he (KTR) said,” Uttam said to the waves of applause from the Congress workers.
He, however, said KTR was not right person to hurl challenges at Congress party , let the challenge come from his father and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
” We go to any extent if TRS wins 100 division in the GHMC elections,” Uttam said.
He also informed the gathering that the party was going to announce the list of candidates for the constituencies that fall in the Ranga Reddy district on January 14.
Later addressing the meeting Digvijay Singh said Congress party alone had the capacity and wherewithal to defeat the TRS.
” If we win the GHMC election, it would lead us to victory in the 2019 general elections,” Digvijay said.
Congress has intensified the campaign in city after the arrival of Digvijay Sing in Hyderabad yesterday. All senior leaders have participated in the campaign meetings. Besides PCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leaders of Opposition K. Jana Reddy and Mohammed Ali Shabbir, TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Rajya Sabha MP V. Hanumantha Rao, Greater Hyderabad Congress president Danam Nagender, former minister P. Sabitha Indira Reddy and other senior leaders were also present.
