Andhra Pradesh government today appointed Jayaram Komati as Special Representative of Government of Andhra Pradesh for North America for liaison, coordination facilitation and assistance to all Government officials and dignitaries of Andhra Pradesh going to North America and also for mobilizing financial, technical and human resources from North America for economic, social, cultural and tourism development of Andhra Pradesh with immediate effect.
It is for the first time in India that a state government has appointed a special representative outside the country. Normally, states appoint special representatives in New Delhi to pursue the projects which are pending at the centre. A state appointing a government representative outside the country is unheard of, said an official. Can centre approve of this appointment?
Jayaram Komati is an active member to Telugu Association of North America. He is also a member of the executive board at Telugu Times Media Inc. USA. He is involved with Telugu community activities and served President for Telugu Association of North America (TANA). He owns a Chain of Indian restaurants in California State and other Businesses.
