Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir
asked the Muslims that it was high time that the Muslim of old city put an end to the MIM politics of intimidation. For the first time MIM is facing a tough electioneering in GHMC elections. Because, an attack from BJP is not a serous issues for Muslims of Ol City. This time, Congress, which is considered a friendly party is taking on MIM.
Congress is concentrating three points : 1. The personal wealth of MIM brothers.
2. The poverty and squalor in Old City and 3. Underdevelopment of the area and unemployment among the Muslim youth.
Addressing a massive public meeting in Lalalithabagh ward in Chandrayangutta Assembly constituency of Old City, Shabbir Ali said MIM leaders have always exploited the Muslim community and encashed every occasion to get personal benefits.
” The MIM practiced the politics of intimidation to keep control over Old City. They threatened the Old City youth by way of opening rowdy sheets. But they never gave a thought on making them engineers, doctors or other professionals. MIM leaders turned billionaires, but their voters remained poor. The time for change has come now,” he said.
Congress party has appointed Shabbir to take on the mighty MIM, which ditched it after formation of Telangana state. Congress is peeved that a party which survived because of Congress’ attitude towards Hyderabad Muslims, had joined hands with TRS. The Congress wants to prove that MIM is irrelevant as Congress is directly wants to lead the Muslims. Congress’ Shabbir, a vocal Minority leader, is sweating out to cause a split in the MIM vote bank. Will Shabbir succeed ?
Shabbir Ali asked the people of Old City to start questioning the MIM leaders on their failures. ” Question them over their silence over 12% Muslim reservation. Ask as to why they kept mum on Alair encounter. They will continue their exploitation if you remain silent. Take this GHMC election as an opportunity and raise a banner of revolt against discrimination and backwardness,” he said. He also accused MIM leaders of aligning with the BJP. “They have earned so much of illegal wealth that they have no option but to surrender before Narender Modi, Amit Shah and they will also bow before RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat. Just imagine the kind of wealth they own by calculating the money they are spending on election campaign,” he said.
He also listed out various steps taken by previous Congress regime for the development of Muslim community in the State. He said more than 10 lakh Muslim youth benefitted from 4% Muslim reservation policy. However, he said that the TRS Government was pushing the Muslims into backwardness. Nearly 29 minority engineering colleges, two medical colleges and several professional colleges were closed since TRS Government took over. Now the TRS Government is promising to give 1,000 auto-rickshaws to minority youth. “TRS wants Muslim youth to remain auto-drivers and never become engineers, doctors or other professionals,” he said.
The Congress leader appealed to the people to vote in favour party candidate Mohammed Abdul Irfan. He said Irfan was a journalism and law graduate and was well acquainted with the local problems. “Your vote for Congress will be a vote for development while your vote for the local party will go in favour of rowdism, backwardness and illegal financiers,” he said.
