Chandrababu Naidu’s term as chief minister began with putting huge burden on the five crore people of the truncated state of Andhra Pradesh. Known for corporate-style performance Chandrababu loves to do things- from swearing-in ceremony to foundation-stone laying ceremony of Amaravati to giving facelift to the camp offices- in style. His speeches in the public meetings that the state has no money even to pay salaries flies in the face of his penchant for penchant for world class extravagance. His personal staff also are not lagging in emulating their boss. They spend huge money on transport in the past two years. Even though all officers are provided with government cars, they have spent money on transport like water in 2014 and 2015.
In 2015-16 the transport expenditure of Chandrababu Naidu’s personal staff is Rs 90,20,000 (Rupees Ninety Lakhs and Twenty thousand only). Finance department on Monday issued budget release order, as the additional funds, in relaxation of the treasury control and quarterly regulation orders. The amount has been released towards meeting the hiring charges for the vehicles provided to the Officers in Chief Minister’s Office. This is a huge jump from the expenditure in 2014-15.
In 2014-15, from July to December (six months), Principal secretary, secretary, PS along with other officials of chief minister’s office hired vehicles and spent Rs 27,78,260 on rentals. The bill was raised by M/S Srikanth Tours and Travels on monthly basis. As per the request of Director protocol, department of Protocol, the amount has been released on Monday.
