Expressing concern over the apathy of TDP government towards the army jawan Mustaq, who died in Siachen avalanche, opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy demanded the government to give a decent package to his family.
After paying tributes to Jawan Mustaq Ahmed at his village Parnapalli, Kurnool district today, he said the cabinet had increased the exgratia from Rs 5 lakh to R 25 lakh only after a dharna had been organized for more amount and his protest.
” The cabinet had announced hike in exgratia only after I announced that I would be attending the funeral of the soldier at his village,” Jagan said.
“It is disheartening to note that the cabinet did not bother to pay homage to the soldier who hails from the minority community,” he added.
In the neighboring Karnataka, the opposition leader said, besides ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakhs, the government had offered a house, a job to the kin and farm-land to the family of jawan killed in the same accident in Siachen.
He demand that all benefits should be extended to the family of Mustaq Ahmed on the lines Karnataka did.
