Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita University) has come forward to setup its Medical University at Amaravati, upcoming capital of Andhra Pradesh .
Amrita Univeristy is currently operating 5 campuses in South India.
Alongside the Rs 2,500 crore medical university, a multispeciality hospital with 2,250 bedding capacity will also be constructed. A Research- Healthcare campus center, affiliated with the medical university will also be set up.
A delegation from Amrita University on Friday presented a detailed report on the proposed university and multi-specialty hospital to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Responding to the Chief Minister’s request to set up Amrita University in Amaravati, the delegation said, Mata Amritanandamayi has taken a decision to set their medical university in Andhra Pradesh’s capital.
“In our pursuit to make Andhra Pradesh a knowledge and education hub, we are seeking assistance and technical support from international institutions. Already 13-14 institutions have come forward to support Andhra Pradesh. Amrita Medical University in Amaravati will bolster the city’s prospects worldwide,” the Chief Minister said.
