There was a time in the not too distant past when Brahmanandam commanded equal if not more attention than star heroes. His presence was enough to guarantee good openings for films. But that time has passed and his performances and characterisations have become extremely repetitive.
He has also fallen out of favour with viewers and recent misfires at the box office in films like Bruce Lee are just an indication of the situation. He has also been absent in some recent high profile releases.
All this points to one thing. Brahmanandam needs to reinvent himself if he wants regain lost ground. As it is, the Telugu Film Industry is suffering from a lack of high profile comedians after the tragic deaths of so many over the last two years.
Even now, the situation is not beyond repair. Brahmanandam needs to stop accepting monotonous roles and silly characterisations. He needs to start selecting author backed comedy roles that can do justice to his stardom and image.
Let us hope that Brahmanandam realises this and gets back into the groove soon.
