Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy was hopeful that many TDP MLAs would come to him from year onwards. ” I will take them only after they resigned and get reelected,” he announced. Launching his Kadapa district tour from Badvel today he said he was told chief minister Chandrababu Naidu was offering Rs 20 crore to R 30 crore to each MLA to switch over to his party.
He alleged that the CM was spending the money amassed from the corruption in Pattiseema project, Capital city lands, Genco projects and Galeru- Nagari to buy these MLAs.
Nothing would happen to his party if a handful of MLAs leave the party, he asserted and added that it was presenting him an opportunity to train some strong leaders in the constituencies where YSRCP MLAs quit the party to join TDP.
” If Chandrababu Naidu has any moral fiber, he should ask all the MLAs he purchased by offering crores of rupees and ministerial berths, to resign from the Assembly and seek fresh mandate. Naidu should to this if he was courageous enough to face people on defections,” he said.
“This is only a second year into the term of this Assembly . Let’s wait for the third year. His MLAs would start coming to me. But, I don’t want to become chief minister with help of defectors. I will send them to the polls and ask them to get reelected. Then only I will opt for chief minister post,” Jagan clarified.
” The desertions from my party would make no difference for YSRCP. My party began with two MLAs, my mother and myself. Later 18 members joined me. Immediately we got them resigned and went for bypolls and won all the seats. Later our strength had gone up to 67 members in the House,” Jagan said.
stating that buying MLAs was not a big deal, Jagan said, what matters in politics was the support from the people.
” If you are morally upright, ask these MLAs to resign. We will go to the people to seek their mandate. Then you will know whose side the people are on,” Jagan said.
