Kapu reservation movement leader Mudragada Padmanabham cancelled his proposed fast unto death scheduled to commence from March 11. He took the decision in view of the examinations to SSC student.
Issuing ultimatum to chief minister Chandrababu Naidu last week to implement all the assurance he had given to him at the time of calling off his earlier fast unto death, Mudragada said he would wait till March 10 for a response from chief minister. If there was no response, he said he would go in a fast again to for the justice for his kapu Jati in the reservations, loans from Kapu corporation etc.
Announcing the cancellation of the fast, the Kapu leader said he had received phone calls from all part of the state not to go on a fast at the time of examinations.
All these students, and many Kapu leaders also requested him to postpone the agitation till the examinations were concluded. He said 60 per cent of the supporters of his movements were youth and he did not want to do anything detrimental to their future. ” This is decision has been taken not to disturb the exam atmosphere in the state as it would affect the future of the students,” he told media at Kirlampudi. He said he would announce the further dates in due course. In the meantime, joint action committees would be formed in every district and they would discuss the current situation with regard to the Kapu demands, including the constitution of Kapu commission, he said. He had consulted Kapu leaders from all the 13 districts from the Andhra Pradesh.
On the other side, TDP made it clear that the party would not take cognizance of Mudragada’s fast as he was working in league with opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
