Fame is fickle. More so in the film industry where a person’s worth is evaluated freshly every Friday. It doesn’t matter if you have a blockbuster against your name. You are only as good as your last film.
That is exactly what is happening in the case of Bommarillu Bhaskar. This director scored a massive hit with ‘Bommarillu’ and the film remains popular to this day. But his next film ‘Parugu’ did not do too well. The next two films, ‘Orange’ and ‘Ongole Gitta’ , turned out to new big commercial disasters.
Bhaskar did not really recover after the two failures and he went into a depression of sorts for a while. After a long gap, he took up direction with ‘Bangalore Naatkal’, the remake of ‘Bangalore Days’. That project worked out moderately well from a critical perspective.
With this momentum, Bhaskar is now looking to get back into the game and he has approached a few producers and actors with fresh scripts. Let us see where this goes.
