Telangana Congress senior MLA Dr G Chinna Reddy cautioned ruling TRS against going overboard in allowing too much traffic into the TRS from the opposition parties ” Overweight is bound to lead to boat-capsize,” he said. Commenting on the recent spate of defections into the ruling party, the Telangana Congress veteran asked how long would you go on ‘buying’ MLAs from other parties.
Chinna Reddy, a doctorate in agricultural sciences, is one of the brilliant politicians in Telangana. He rarely comments on petty day-to-day happenings and goes on doing his work in the constituency without involving himself in the politicking.
His criticism carries weight. He was once a good friend of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. There was even talk that KCR recommended his name to Congress president Sonia Gandhi to take him into YSR Cabinet. Such a man today made a serious charge against the TRS leadership.
” You have enough strength. With 63 members in ruling party, there won’t be any threat from any side. Still you are promoting amoral politics by forcing defections. If you go on adding people like this, this would soon become a excess weight and cause boat accident,’ he said.
” How much are you spending on these defections? Is it not the money you got from the redesigning of the Telangana projects?
Chinna Reddy said Telangana was a state of limited democracy.
” You have imposed restriction on TV channels. You have closed the government websites, you are not revealing any information on the vacancies in the government,” he said.
He was critical of Telangana-Maharashtra agreement on Godavari waters. ” Calling this historic and first agreement was a lie. First agreement was signed in 2012,” he said and alleged that the TRS government was misguiding the public about history also.
