TRS government today received a punch from quite an unexpected quarters. Akbaruddin Owaisi, leader of MIM and trusted friend of ruling party accused the government of changing the alignment of Hyderabad metro rail indiscriminately. The whole affair of Hyderabad Metro, he said, looks like a massive scam. He demanded a thorough probe into the changes in the alignments. Akbaruddin also demanded the government that it should make public when the project was going to be completed.
This happened in Telangana Assembly today when the opposition parties raised the delay in the implementing of the project and indiscriminate changes in the alignment, etc.
The debate turned hot when the Congress deputy leader Malli Bhatti Vikramarkha alleged that the changes in the alignments would put heavy burden on the people. Responding to opposition criticism, municipal minister KT Ramarao said there were no changes in the alignment of the metro route. He said the project would completed as scheduled. Talking about the burden Ramarao said the cost of the ticket would be between Rs 13-Rs 25. Dismissing all the charges as figment of imagination, KTR said if the members want , he would organize a meeting for city MLAs on Metro where they could get all their doubts clarified. He said 74 per cent of the Metro work had been completed and the execution of the project would be completed as per the schedule. According to Ramarao the delay happened in the earlier regime. Even though the project contract was signed in 2010, the work had not begun in the first two years in United Andhra Pradesh. ” It was after the formation of Telangana, the work gained momentum. 2000 pillars have already been completed. Metro traverses in Old City for 5.5 km. The project is going faster than the that of Chennai works,” he said.
