Anam Vivekananda, known for his offbeat political activities and remarks, this time made a serious suggestion to the leaders YSR Congress. He suggested them to initiated steps immediately to save the YSR Congress from party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy. If Jagan continued as the leader, he said, many more MLAs would leave the party and one day, in near future, there would be no MLA left in the party other than Jagan himself.
Ever since he joined the TDP two months ago along with his brother Ramnarayana Redddy, Vivekananda Reddy has been attacking the opposition leader Jaganmohan Reddy. Reddy was more virulent in his attacks on Jagan than the original TDP leaders.
He said Jagan was disliked in the party. Because of Jagan’s dictatorial attitude the MLAs were not getting the chance in the Assembly even to raise the issues concerning their constituencies.
” When you are not able to win over your own MLAs, how would you thing that you would win over 5 crore people of the state,” he said.
Reddy was responding to the assertion of YSR Congress MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy and MLA Roja that Jagan was certain to come to power in 2019 and would remain in power for 30 years.
Expressing sympathies for the duo’s ignorance of politics, Vivekananda Reddy said the party leaders important responsibility was to ensure that the party survived first.
Vivekananda Reddy, a strong leader from Nellore district, remarked, Jaganmohan Reddy was a failed leader. Pointing to the desertion from the YSR Congress as evidence, he said, Jagan would drive away all MLAs from the party in no time.
He also revealed that many more MLAs were planning to leave the YSRC. But refused to divulge the names. ” I know with certainty, many more MLAs are thinking of leaving Jaganmohan Reddy as they realized that there would no future for them if they cling to YSRC,” he told media.
He dismissed the charge that the TDP was engineering the defections.”TDP has a comfortable majority in the House. So, where is the need to encourage the MLA to leave the YSRC and join the ruling party- where the is no threat from any quarters,” he said.
He defended the MLAs who are joining the TDP.” These MLAs are leaving Jagag because they want some development in their constituencies. By being part of the ruling party, they can get some projects, works allocated to their constituencies. When such motive drives the MLAs to join the TDP, naturally they are welcome,” he said.
