Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy revealed the motive behind this sudden decision to the place no-confidence motion against the Chandrababu Naidu’s government. In fact the party had been planning to table no-trust motion against the speaker. A few days before the party announced that it had a plan to move no-confidence motion against the government. Why this sudden change of mind? The objective of the motion, Jagan repeatedly said, to fix the legal liability of the YSRC members who defected to TDP for personal gains. They won on the B-form issued by YSRC and were not supposed to join the TDP without resigning from Assembly, he said
He said the YSRC had given no-confidence motion only to ensure the defector MLAs were disqualified. In the past one month as many as 8 MLAs crossed over to TDP from YSRC. Participating in the debate on the no-confidence motion tabled in AP Assembly, Jagan said there was no gainsaying , this no-confidence motion had been tabled to see the defectors could not escape the provisions of anti-defection law.
Intervening, legislative affairs minister Yanamala Ramakrihnudu appreciated Jagan for making his ulterior motive behind tabling the no-confidence motion apparent . Reiterating his plan Jagan said the MLAs could not escape the law. “We have issued whip to ensure that they voted in favor of the no-confidence. whether they vote or not, whether they are present in the house or not, we will see that they are disqualified. All these members joined TDP, and the ruling party offered them huge money and other allurements. So, we know how to get them disqualified,” Jagan said.
Jagan was critical of the chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s attitude towards defections.”If chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has any respect for the democratic practices, he should get them resigned and seek fresh mandate. Let’s go to the people on the issue of defections,” Jagan challenged.
” I pains me to hear that MLAs are being bought by offering crores of rupees. Now the government is attempting to save these MLA from being disqualified on the basis violation of whip. I ask the CM to get all the MLAs are resigned and go for fresh elections in their constituencies,” he said. Earlier Jagan provoked heated debate when he referred to murder of Kapu leader Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, quoting the book written by former TDP minister Hari Ramajogaiah. He said the book clearly indicated that Chandrababu was the mastermind of the murder of the Kapu leader Ranga and the killing was executed as per his directions.
This provoked many members refer to what they called Jagan’s criminal past. TDP member Kala Venkatarao, who was home minister when Ranga was killed, said since his childhood Jagan’s had been a criminal mind and he was attributing his character to others. Irrigation minister Devineni Uma questioned whey his father was silent when he was chief minister if Chandrababu Naidu was really involved in Ranga’s killing.
