Naidu : Show the proof or quite the house
Jagan : Refer to CBI, proof will surface
Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for ten minutes when challenges and counter challenges by ruling Telugu Desam party and opposition YSRC flew thick and fast over the alleged corruption in projects and contracts in TDP government. The House ran into chaos when Jaganmohan Reddy alleged that corruption to the tune of Rs 7000 crore took place in recent contracts while speaking on the no-confidence motion tabled by his party. Jagan alleged that scams of highest order took place in the awarding contracts of solar plants, buying coal from international market, Pattiseema, in determining the cost of power generation etc. Jagan listed about 20 projects where according to him were full of corruption.
Chief minister Chandrababu , however, dared opposition leader to show the proof for the allegations he had been consistently making against TDP or stop coming to house for making baseless charges against the government.
Naidu, who had been watching the proceedings silently for four hours, intervened when Jagan specifically alleged that about Rs 7000 crore scam took place in energy related contracts besides Pattiseema project, which Jagan said, was a project built on corruption. “Even coal supplies to Genco was contracted to company of Adani, and Mahalakshmi at exorbitant prices when the prices in international market had fallen drastically. Jagan said there was no project or contract that was awarded or signed without scam.
Intervening at this juncture CM Naidu hurled a challenge that Jagan should place the proof for the charges he leveled especially on the contracts in solar plants, Krishnapatnam power cost and Genco coal purchase.
” It is shame on you to make charges without any proof. I request the speaker to adjourn the house and examine the proceedings to identify the charges the opposition leader had made on these two projects. He should furnish the proof till I won’t allow the house go ahead. If the proof is furnished I would dismiss the people involved in the scam. If he can’t he should stop coming to the House,” the CM warned. No proceedings till the proof was produced, Naidu made it clear.
Referring to the earlier charges of large-scale land purchases in and around Amaravati capital region made by Jagan, Naidu said, when he asked for evidence, the opposition leader ran away.
Shaking with anger Naidu said, ” I won’t allow the house go ahead until the proof for all charges is furnished to the House.”
Sticking to his charges Jagan said,” You(the CM) are the accused in these scams. How can I produce the proof to you. Why are you talking about only two cases? There are twenty cases. Refer all the cases to CBI , then we will place all the information before the investigating agency.” Jagan said.
“Naidu should first tell the house if he is ready for a CBI inquiry,” Jagan asked. In the logjam, created by the rushing of YSRCP members into well and shouting by TDP, speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao adjourned the House for ten minutes.
