In a spanning 85 years of its history, Telugu film industry never had set sights or even come closer to compete with the Bollywood movies. But that perception has completely changed with the release of India’s biggest motion picture Baahubali. The magnum opus, which released on July 10th, transcended the boundaries and drew global attention. In fact, its collections across the country showcased that Telugu cinema is capable of doing wonders at the box office.
The Hindi version of Baahubali has been doing phenomenal business ever since its release. Presented by Karan Johar of Dharma Productions, this movie notched up around 96 Crores so far including all the northern territories giving a tough competition to the Bollywood biggies. It is believed that the collections for Hindi version alone will zoom past the 100 Crore mark pretty soon. So, it will be a huge milestone for any regional movie from South. Already, the Telugu version alone notched more than 150 Crores and also the Tamil and Malayalam version emerged as super hits in their respective regions. These numbers surely reflect the craze for this epic wonder.
In the meantime, the pre-production activities for the next part have already kick started and the regular shooting will commence from mid September. Only 40 percent shoot is done so far. The makers are planning to release it in mid 2016.
